The Lucy Maynard Salmon Collection
includes the personal papers of Lucy Maynard Salmon along with two smaller collections
of papers belonging to her mother, Maria Clara Maynard Salmon, and her brother, Pomeroy L. Salmon. The materials relate
to her work as an historian and professor at Vassar College as well as her work with
the suffrage movement and local political issues. There are also materials relating
to her family, education and personal life. Formats include correspondence,
manuscripts, printed material, clippings, minutes, reports, notes, and
photographs.

A collection of papers created by Margaret H. Laidlaw Richardson (VC 1923) during
her time at Vassar College, including a photograph album; Vassar College exams, syllabi, and grades; and College Entrance
Exam exams and scores.

Correspondence and other materials pertaining to Marjorie Dodd MacCracken, wife of Henry Noble MacCracken, president of Vassar College 1915-1946. Also includes poems and miscellaneous personal papers.

Includes manuscripts of works by McCarthy, correspondence with agents and publishers, correspondence with publications like the and ; and subject files on a variety of issues such as dissidents, Spanish Refugee Aid and the Vietnam War. There is also extensive correspondence with friends, family members and other literary figures like Carmen Angleton, Hannah Arendt, Nicola Chiaromonte, Elizabeth Hardwick, Lotte Kohler, Dwight Macdonald, Cees Nooteboom, Philip Rahv, Arthur Schlesinger, Stephen Spender and Niccoló Tucci. Among the legal papers are items on Lillian Hellman. There are also photos, videotapes, scrapbooks and realia.

Typescripts of and correspondence pertaining to an English translation of Geiger's writings on aesthetics.

The Muriel Rukeyser Papers contain various published works and corresponding promotional materials in addition to manuscripts, including signed Neruda translations. Correspondence with the poet and photographs of complete the collection.

This collection consists of drafts and unpublished material pertaining to poet, author, and teacher Nancy Willard's children's book , as well as collections of student writings and artwork from a number of Willard's Vassar College courses.

The bulk of the collection consists
of Lowrie's manuscripts of published and unpublished book reviews, 1934-1952. Other
items include correspondence relating to Vassar College, her work as a book
reviewer, responses to her reviews, her health, comments on people and politics,
popular culture, her dogs, and other personal issues. There is also family and
biographical material, her Christmas card collection, and other items.

Correspondence, photographs and miscellaneous papers from Robert E. Middleton, VC Professor of Music 1953-1985.

The collection consists primarily of photographs taken by American photographer Rosalie Thorne "Rollie" McKenna (1918-2003) that document life and events at
Vassar College during the 1950s and 1960s, including contact sheets, negatives, and prints. It also includes photographs taken by
McKenna of Springside National Historic Site, Matthew Vassar's former estate in
Poughkeepsie, as well as correspondence with the National Park Service.

The photograph album contains images from Ruth Goodkind Calvin's years at Vassar College, as well as her travels across the United States, particularly the American West and the National Parks.

Thirty original letters by Hale and typescript copies of letters to and from Hale (originals also available) concerning the inclusion of the word "female" in Vassar Female College, women's education, other business of Vassar College, missionary work, and women in the church. Other correspondents include Milo P. Jewett, Benson J. Lossing, John H. Raymond, and Matthew Vassar.
