Financial records

The bulk of the Claflin collection is from the years 1927-1934, the period in which she received her graduate degrees and began to teach at Vassar College as an associate professor and later as a full professor. While the collection itself is mainly made up of correspondence, it also contains an eclectic selection of material, including: various drafts of her doctoral thesis, newspaper clippings concerning her career, programs of exhibits, class notes and assorted miscellanea.

The Caroline Furness Papers consist
of correspondence, personal and professional papers, writings, research, and
photographs created and assembled by American astronomer and Vassar faculty member
Caroline E. Furness. Notable correspondents include Furness’s father, Henry B.
Furness; Vassar faculty member Mary W. Whitney; Kan'ichi Asakawa; Sakusaburo
Uchigasaki; Rose O'Neill; Vilhjalmur Stefansson; and other astronomers, including
Jan van der Bilt, Phoebe Waterman Haas, and Ruth E. Smith.

The collection contains
correspondence, ephemera, and photographs, mostly relating to Charlotte and Clara
Barnum's education and continued association with Vassar College. Also included are
materials related to Clarine Warner Curtis (VC 1888), a life-long friend and
correspondent of Clara Barnum, whose daughter, Virginia H. Curtis Milburn Robertson
(VC 1930), continued correspondence with Clara after Clarine's death in
1945.

The Elizabeth Bishop Estate and Posthumous Events Collection consists of materials pertaining to the literary estate of Elizabeth Bishop, managed by Alice Methfessel after the poet's death in 1979. The collection also includes ephemera and realia from various events celebrating Elizabeth Bishop since her death. Included are, pamphlets, posters, flyers, clippings, video and audio recordings, and files of general information.

This collection contains records and printed ephemera collected by Gertrude (Spaulding) Bartelme (VC 1915) during her service with the American Red Cross Bureau of Refugees in France towards the end of the First World War.

Materials relating to the Hill family's personal, professional, and political activities. The bulk of the collection relates most directly to Elsie M. Hill (VC 1906).

The Jeh Vincent Johnson Papers contain materials created or collected by Johnson throughout his life and career as an architect and Vassar College faculty member.

An artificial collection of letters,
diaries, account books, land grants, deeds, wills, and other historical materials
originally established by the History Department at Vassar College.

Biographies, autographs, correspondence, diaries, maps, photographs created by and relating to Matthew Vassar, founder of Vassar College.

Materials related to the work of the Vassar College's Office of the President during the tenure of Alan Simpson. The collection includes typical day-to-day administrative records, as well as documents related to noteworthy issues and events from the Simpson Era (1964-1977).

Correspondence, memoranda, minutes, reports, contracts, publications, and other materials pertaining to Henry Noble MacCracken's tenure as president of Vassar College.

Records of the Vassar College Office of the President during the administration of Sarah Gibson Blanding, 1946-1964. Includes correspondence, memoranda, clippings, articles, speeches, and press releases from Blanding's time at Vassar, including those concerning women's education, academic freedom, 1950's politics, her stand against Congressional investigation of Communist influence in education, her introduction to Adlai Stevenson on a radio program, and her 1962 statement on pre-marital sex and Vassar students.

Materials related to the work of the Vassar College's Office of the President during the tenure of Virginia B. Smith. The collection includes typical day-to-day administrative records, as well as documents related to noteworthy issues and events from the Smith Era (1977-1986).

This collection consists of
administrative and financial records, correspondence, and photographs created by
Springside Landscape Restoration, a non-profit organization dedicated to the
preservation and maintenance of Springside--a United States National Historic
Site and the summer home of Matthew Vassar (1792-1868). Publications and
writings about Springside and its designer, landscape architect Andrew Jackson
Downing (1815-1852), as well as records related to Springside from its 20th-century
owners, the Nelson family, are also included.

The collection consists of administrative records of the Africana Studies Program, primarily correspondence and subject files.

An artificial collection of materials
documenting the history of Vassar College, collected by various departments of the
Library over several decades. Materials include letters, photographs, programs,
college circulars and other publications, building specifications, contracts, bills
and receipts, inventories, accounts, committee minutes, architectural and landscape
drawings, reports, and club constitutions and records.

Materials relating to the work of the Vassar College
Board of Trustees. Includes meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, committee records, and financial
records.

Minutes, reports, correspondence and other material created by the Office of Student Life and Diversity. Also included are audiovisual materials, including VHS and compact disc recordings of baccalaureate ceremonies; photographs; event flyers and posters; and realia including mugs, t-shirts, and pens.

Materials related to the actives of Vassar College Facilities Operations, including basic service,
construction, renovation, and maintenance projects concerning the college’s buildings and property.

The collection contains
correspondence between Natural History Museum administrators, other museums and
educational institutions, and vendors and collectors; annual reports; inventories
and lists of specimens kept by the museum; clippings about the museum;
advertisements for, and descriptions of, various anatomical and biological specimens
and models; records of specimen loans and purchases; and floor plans for a proposed
addition to the New England Building.
