A significant volume of the collection contains correspondence between family members, including letters to and from Stephen Vincent Benét and William Rose Benét. The collection includes manuscript drafts by Laura Benét, as well as some ephemera and printed material collected by the family.

This collection comprises the research material Carol Gelderman compiled for use in her biography of Mary McCarthy, entitled . The bulk of the collection is interview material, including audio cassettes. Several of the interviews were with Mary McCarthy but most were with others who knew or worked with McCarthy. There is also correspondence as well as articles and portions of books either by or about Mary McCarthy and her work.

Photographs, correspondence, printed material and ephemera relating to the sisters’ education and subsequent association with Vassar College. Includes photographs and other material relating to the Vassar College Classes of 1881 and 1888.

Materials relating to Raymond's life as the daughter of a Vassar College president, a Vassar student, administrator of the College, and unofficial historian. Also included is information about the years she spent as a grade school teacher.

Correspondence, primarily letters received, 1919-1955, concerning a European trip, publishing, translations of her work, comment on her writing, contracts, and personal affairs; manuscripts and typescripts of her novels and short stories primarily from the 1920s and 1930s; her notes concerning Tibetan Buddhist literature; and photographs and other miscellaneous items.

The remainder of the collection consists of published works by Millay or material about her life and career, such as her involvement in the Sacco-Vanzetti case, and includes photographs, articles, clippings, reviews, programs.

Also, letters, minutes, contracts, and financial records from her teaching and publishing activities, 1943-1979; manuscripts, typescripts, drafts, revisions, and fragments of her poetry and prose writings, 1929-1979; Vassar student notebooks, travel diaries, notes from her 17-year residence in Brazil, and family information, 1931-1977; manuscripts, typescripts, articles, essays, and poetry by or about other writers, especially Robert Lowell, 1925-1979; and printed poetry, prose, reviews, and articles by or about Bishop.

Correspondence, notes, transcripts, and photographs related to Collier's turn-of-the-century childhood, as well as her time at Vassar and beyond.

The collection contains material related to Elizabeth Cady Stanton's work for women's suffrage, abolition, temperance, and other social causes. Includes family and professional correspondence, biographical and autobigraphical material, transcripts of her speeches, and photographs. Also includes material by others, such as her daughter, Margaret Stanton Lawrence, about the women's movement and Stanton's life and career.

Correspondence, diaries, manuscripts and typescripts, newspaper clippings, travel documents, legal and financial papers, family papers, photographs, printed materials and miscellaneous items relating to the life and work of Eloise Ellery. There is also significant collection of items which belonged to Frank Ellery.

The Elsa Butler Grove Collection contains correspondence, typescripts, printed materials and photographs. The most notable portions of the collection relate to her service in the Baltic States and work with the American Red Cross and the Vassar Unit in France during World War I. There is also material related to the proposed establishment of an archives at Vassar College, miscellaneous printed material, and some biographical material.

These papers primarily concern Fradkin's interest and activities around disarmament and include her manuscripts, "To Bomb or Not to Bomb," "Behind the Scenes at the First World Disarmament Conference," and "The Women's Contribution to [the] Disarmament Conference." There are also photographs and booklets from the disarmament conference, 1951-1952; a newsletter by Fradkin on United Nations affairs; a 1932 issue of PAX INTERNATIONAL; and biographical clippings and her obituary, 1965-1972.
