An artificial collection of materials
documenting the history of Vassar College, collected by various departments of the
Library over several decades. Materials include letters, photographs, programs,
college circulars and other publications, building specifications, contracts, bills
and receipts, inventories, accounts, committee minutes, architectural and landscape
drawings, reports, and club constitutions and records.

Chronological and subject files relating to events including Vassar Student Association conferences, Founder’s Day, Commencement and other events and activities. Also includes Palmer Gallery records, such as exhibition publications, correspondence with artists, artists’ resumes and samples of their works.

Materials relating to student life, campus facilities, admissions, events, as well as other student life and general administrative issues.

Materials relating to admissions, campus facilities, curriculum development, departmental policy, events, faculty oversight and reviews, general administration, grant proposals and student life.

The records contain material related
to the operations of the Dean of the Faculty office, including events planning,
faculty management, buildings operations, reports, and personnel files.

Bound registers from the Vassar College Infirmary, containing logs of student and staff sick visits, symptoms, prescriptions, and treatments.

Materials concerning exhibits, the Library building, the history of the Library, and other routine matters.

The collection contains
correspondence between Natural History Museum administrators, other museums and
educational institutions, and vendors and collectors; annual reports; inventories
and lists of specimens kept by the museum; clippings about the museum;
advertisements for, and descriptions of, various anatomical and biological specimens
and models; records of specimen loans and purchases; and floor plans for a proposed
addition to the New England Building.

Materials concerning the publicity work of the Vassar College News Office.

Material pertaining to projects and exhibits conducted by the Museum, 1937-1947. Topics include Latin America, the dairy industry, child welfare, folk art, housing, public health, science and industry, as well as economic and social issues in Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County.
